New Year… slow start

During the last production design meeting scene #8 was discussed to generate a visual breakdown.  Subjects from the last scene, #7 are still open so our members will probably focusing on the same two scenes going into the next meeting.  Some work has been done on Scene 9 and Scene 11 but not as part of the weekly meeting.  During the Storyboard pitch meeting Anthony Bjerke pitched two scenes during our normal process and then the members at the meeting split into four teams of two and created pitches for scenes in a 40min speed session as an experiment.  The results were about as expected.  The visuals were rougher but the camera angles, and description of action was well done.  We have pitched 37 scenes and have 62 remaining.

Official nonprofit corporate status

Our not for profit organization has been formerly organized as an Oregon nonprofit membership corporation, Imaginarium Foundation.  All of our communications, materials and websites carry our ”Doing business as,” title of Imaginarium Productions.  We will be changing those materials to our official name over the next couple of months. The official organizing meeting for Imaginarium Productions was held on Sunday, January 22, 2006 and our board was elected.  We are starting a new project to propose as monthly public access television program.  The program will be documenting the “Imaginarium experience,” of our members collaborating on various film projects for fun and experienced based education. We are currently meeting two nights a week to work through two processes:  Production Design and Storyboard thumbnail pitches.    During the production design meeting last week our members were working on a scene from the “X and Y,” script to come up with a visual breakdown and finalize production designs for the set, props, vehicles and gadgets in that scene.  We have started breakdowns and design for 3 scenes and have 96 scenes remaining. During the script storyboard meeting we had three members pitching thumbnail sketches for their vision of scenes from the “X and Y,” script.  We have pitched 31 scenes and have 68 remaining.  As a side project there has been considerable technical effort put in by Ted Gocek to document our planed CGI pipeline for production stage modeling to final rendering.

A mission

We anticipated that December would be a hard month for us to get things done given the holidays, vacations, ect…  However we were able to meet and continue plugging away.  Currently we meet twice a week to work through two processes, storyboard pitches and production design.  We have pitched 18 scenes and have 81 scenes remaining.  We are hoping to pitch 6-9 scenes per meeting.

We are expecting more than 250+ subjects that need production designs and at this point we only have 3 finalized designs.  However we have a lot of intial designs and drafts that will help us work through that process.  We were incorporated as a Nonprofit Membership Corporation in the State of Oregon as of January 9, 2006.  We are scheduling our first Annual Membership Meeting and Organizational Meeting to adopt our official bylaws.  Our nonprofit mission is to provide experienced based education related to the production of arts for entertainment.  Our opportunities will be open to the public.  This weblog will be one way which we fufill our mission.
