September, the start of new stuff

What is it about the end of summer, beginning of fall that inspires us.  I noticed this last year as well.  There is more activity among our crew all of sudden.  Maybe we got bored with summer?  I think we are all culturally trained by the public school system to restart ourselves along goals as summer winds down and fall approaches.

We’ve never done it before but we are going to try it out… a music jam session. Like everything else we do that’s new, it will take some patience getting started but I’m sure we will figure out a system for collaborating that will allow us produce some good music for the film and be a lot fun.

Our new 3D modelling phase has introduced an era of completely remote collaboration due to each artist using their own favorite software and equipment.  I don’t forsee us having regular artist meetings, because what we are doing is working.  However, I for one am craving some social interaction with the talent that I only talk too over email.  So we are going to try out doing some pure social events.  Our first is will be in a couple of weeks.

End of Summer?

Not really in Oregon, but mentally the beginning of September seems to feel like summers is slipping away.  Probably because we grow up returning to school in the September.

Well it isn’t any surprise that we are behind my last projection for getting the next version of the Story Reel together.  This next version will be matching dialog performances by our outstanding cast with our hand drawn storyboard panels.  We lost about a month of collaboration due to the general summer lags that seemed to hit this time last year as well.  There is something about the month August.

We are back in saddle and moving along with matching dialog with panels.  At the current pace I would say about 4 weeks of editing to go.  Of course once we get this version together we will be circling back to make further revisions.
