Join the X&Y Film project!
The X&Y Team is collaborating on the development of our story reel. Our team’s skill level is beginner to intermediate. We are learning through self study and team interaction. The Foundation is always looking for new people passionate about learning, teaming and of course film making. We have a casual but standardized process for recruiting and integrating new talent with our team. We hope what you learn about our project from this website will inspire you to consider joining our team!
What we do
You will create low polygon models based on existing 2D production design sketches including sets, landscapes, vehicles, some props and character puppets. The models you create, excluding the character puppets, will enter our production pipeline and feed the final production visual fx for the feature film. Since the final feature film will utilize live action actors, the 3D puppets will not be seen in the final Story Reel. However the temporary puppets are an important part of our preproduction process and this would be a good opportunity to complete a variety of design projects in a low stress and demand environment. Being able to differentiate characters from each other is more important then rendering realism.
Shot layout, composition and animation will be based on the existing 2D hand sketched Story Reel and will include revisions you collaborate with the Director on.
Once you’ve had a chance to complete an entire scene, you may decide to focus your skill development in one area by specializing in specific tasks. Alternatively you may want to continue doing everything for a scene from start to finish.
Credits in the final film will be awarded using standard position titles based on actual contributions.
How we do it
We meet for weekly briefing at a coffee shop in SW Portland (Multnomah Village area), to exchange ideas, get some direction and exchange files.
Interested?
If you’re interested in joining the team or have more questions the next step is an email conversation. You probably have questions and we do too! After we have exchanged emailed questions we will set up an informal meeting over coffee to see if we are a good match and give you an opportunity to find out more about our project and team.
So let’s start talking.
